Google noticed that SPS was embracing everything that it had to offer – Chromebooks and G-Suite (Drive/Classroom) –  and asked us to consider becoming a Google for Education Reference District.  This potential recognition required us to complete an in-depth application process, which the Tech Team did, and we found out on June 13, 2017 that we were approved!  Here’s a quote from our acceptance letter:

Your organization is doing exemplary things with Google for Education tools. We are excited for you to join the select group of innovative districts and independent schools in our Reference District Program.” -Google

What does this mean for SPS?  We can use the official Google badge on our websites and we are publically listed as Google for Education Reference District  We agree to be a resource for other districts and offer PD and/or tours.  Believe it or not, other schools have already reached out to us – local and afar – to hear about our experiences!

Here’s the link to our Google Story of Impact that we had to submit as part of our application:  https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Ye-mRp8bcxmlXw7QWBV6J_REcerset2hnRvFEWLeqWw/edit?usp=sharing

This recognition was certainly a collective effort by the entire Scituate Public Schools staff.
