The Jenkins Green Team

The first "Waste Free Wednesday" was held Wednesday, April 25, 2012.  Jenkins students have committed to reducing their trash footprint by recycling.  Students have purchased Jenkins Sharks reusable water bottles to reduce the amount of plastic bottles being used daily and are recycling yogurt containers, plastic utensils and using reusable containers.

The following picture depicts a "typical" lunch prior to the students recycling efforts.  10 bags of trash were used daily during lunch alone, not including all class room trash.



The next picture depicts "Waste Free Wednesday" trash during lunch.  The students were able to save 3 bags of trash on this day proving "It is easy to be green!"  This equates to 540 trash bags a year!
