PSATS to be held at SHS on Wednesday, October 11th

for Sophomores and Juniors!

Scituate High School will once again be a test site for the PSAT/NMSQT.  The exam will be held at Scituate High School on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 and juniors and sophomores are encouraged to sit for the exam.

At this time, payment is now being accepted.  The cost of the exam is $16.00.  Payments may be made through an on-line process (a processing fee will apply) or by submitting to the School Counseling Department a check made payable to the “Town of Scituate” in the amount of $16.00.  Click https://unipaygold.unibank.com/transactioninfo.aspx to access the online payment system.

Payment is due no later than Monday, September 11, 2017.  This is a firm deadline and no payment will be accepted after this date.

Please note:  Students who register to take the exam are expected to report to Scituate High School at 8:10 am that day. This start time (FOR PSAT STUDENTS ONLY) is to ensure students finish in time for lunch.   Please ensure that your student reports to the large gymnasium at 8:10 that morning.  Students should bring with them a scientific or graphic calculator along with two #2 non-mechanical pencils and erasers.

STUDENTS TAKING THE PSAT MUST REPORT TO THE LARGE GYMNASIUM AT 8:10am on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2017. Testing will begin promptly at 8:15 am.

The Scituate Public Schools School Counseling Department is pleased to announce the implementation of Career Cruising.   Career Cruising is an internet-based, career exploration and planning tool for students. Career Cruising is sure to become an essential part of our career and post-secondary planning curriculum.

Features of the program include:

  • Interest and Skills Assessment – a world-renowned career assessment tool that helps students identify suitable career options based on their interests and skills.

  • Career Profiles – thorough and current profiles on hundreds of occupations, including direct links between careers and related college programs.

  • Multimedia Interviews – interviews with real people in each occupation, which add depth and realism to career profiles.

  • Electronic Career Portfolio – students can develop their education and career plans directly on Career Cruising

  • Resume Builder – integrated with the portfolio to help students format and print resumes quickly and easily.
