The following Skills and Competencies matrix includes the technology attributes for grades K–12. The horizontal grid indicates the grade levels for each competency. The instructional activity for each competencies is Introduced, Developed, or Mastered. Introduced specifies that this is a competency that is presented for the first time to student. Developed indicates an ongoing expansion/enhancement of a concept that may continue for a consecutive number of grade levels. Mastered denotes a competency that has been substantially understood and is used with facility by the student.
It is important to recognize that a computer is a tool and not a separate subject area. The skills and competencies associated with technology should not be taught in isolation. Each and every concept listed in this document should be integrated into the frameworks according to the technology strand for each curriculum area.
