In-District Intermediate

Resource Room
The Gates Intermediate Resource Services provides for a continuum of services for students in the full inclusion to partial inclusion placement settings. A team model for all the student within these placements is used which lends itself well with inclusion. Instructional services include consultation, co-teaching, in-class inclusion support, and direct services outside of the classroom setting for direct instruction. The majority of services outside of the classroom setting take place in the Academic Resource Center (ARC) which provides for direct instruction on individual goals and objectives. This service in most often provided during a study hall period and the skills addressed include but are not limited to, specific academic skill acquisition such as reading, math or written language, study skills, organization skills, pre-teaching of academic curriculum and vocabulary and test taking strategies. The goal for all students is to develop independence and self-advocacy in order to provide a foundation for learning at the high school and adult life.

Language Based Learning Disabilities Inclusion Program
The Language Based Learning Disabilities Inclusion Program is housed at the Gates Intermediate School. This program is for students identified under a full inclusion placement for students in grades 7 and 8. This program is designed to service students with and identified educational disability who would most benefit from instruction within a full inclusion placement that integrates language based strategies and methodologies. Language based instruction uses language to teach the student to think and take ownership of the strategies and methodologies in order to be successful in a range of instructional environments.  The population of students receiving services within the learning center primarily have diagnosis of autism and/or intellectual impairments.

Learning Center
The Gates Learning Center is designed to meet the needs of students that require intensive and replacement instruction outside of the general education classroom. Grades serviced within this program include 6, 7, 8 and 9.  Students in the program receive most of the direct academic instruction within a substantially separate placement. As appropriate, students are provided opportunities for inclusion within the general education classroom and school community.
