News From SHORE (Scituate High Opportunities and Resources for Education)
SHORE is pleased to announce that the following grant requests were approved at it’s October 19th meeting:
· $2,000 – Building Community through Social Activities (Brynn Pollets/Rebecca Short)
· $800 – Marijuana Cessation Group (John Mills/Jennifer Lopes)
· $789 – Electronic Balances for Chemistry (Howard Allen)
· $5,000 – Families, Adolescents and Communities Together Against Substances (FACTS) Coalition (Gregory Ranieri/Joan Struzziero)
· $1,225 – TI-84 Calculators for Science Dept (Rich McCready)
· $1,800 – Faculty Refresher Course for Student Assistance Program (Jennifer Lopes/Stephen Howley)
· $4,171 – Spectophotometers and Lab Equipment for Chemistry (Deb Dakin)
· $4,100 – Muscle Stim with Ultrasound Unit for Athletics (Deborah White)
A total of $19,885 was granted by SHORE to fund these worthy initiatives. Thank you to all who attended the meeting and contributed to the informative presentations and interesting discussions that followed.
Grant proposals are reviewed biannually by SHORE. The next grant meeting will be held March 14th, 2012 at 7:00pm in the SHS Library.
In the meantime, please consider joining us at our next regular business meeting on November 16th at 7:00pm in the SHS Library. All SHS community members are welcome. Also, SHORE is currently undertaking it’s Fall Fundraising Drive. You should have already received a brochure in the mail. You may donate to SHORE by mailing a check in any amount to PO Box 196, Scituate, MA 02066. We are a registered 501(c) (3) charitable organization and encourage corporate matching.
